	Language Spelling Aid   A simple spelling aid to help children learn their spelling words for the week in any language. The software has the following features: · Record the words using the parents own voice · The parent can add instruction and aids to the word · Export to flash drive for easy transfer between computers · Show word after 3 incorrect spellings · Parents can review the words to see where the child is struggling · Language independent (any language can be used)

Language Spelling Aid was initially developed for my son who found it difficult to achieve good results in his spelling tests. The software was written to make it fun for him to learn his words. It has made such a difference to his marks which improved dramatically from a low 20% to above 70%. This also boosted his confidence.

The software is easy to use for both parent and child.  The parent uses their own voice to create the spoken word. This allows them to give hints to the child and offer encouragement (this only takes 3 to 5 minutes).  The child hears the words in their parent’s voice and types the word into the answer box; the software then checks if the word is spelt correctly.  If it is correct, the next word is immediately spoken. If the child wants to hear the word again, they simply press "Repeat Word" as many times as they need to.  If they get the word wrong, the word is automatically repeated again.  If they still cannot spell the word correctly after the 3rd attempt, the software shows a button "Show Word".  The child can then click this to get the correct spelling. When the child has completed all words, the parent can review the answers at the bottom of the screen to see which words are problematic for the child. The more the child practices the better they remember the word.

The software can also be used on multiple computers if the child has their own computer.  The parent records the words on their computer, inserts a flash drive and presses "Export to Flash". They then go to the child’s computer, insert the flash drive and press "Import from Flash" and the words are automatically copied across.
